ABOUT ME

I am a graduate with my B.A. in Global Studies and a minor in Professional Writing from the University of California, Santa Barbara. I have several interests and goals, yet writing is at the intersection of them all. My work revolves around providing spaces for underrepresented communities to share their stories and fostering global communities. I love working with individuals from all over the world and know that I can be a key player in creating understanding and powerful relationships among different people.

One topic I am most interested in education reform in the United States. From systemic inequities found in marginalized communities to the way students are taught about the world around them, I am passionate the multiple aspects of education that must be improved in order to provide access to equal and quality educational opportunities. One of my many goals is to rewrite history in textbooks and curricula in order to create a more representative and factual global narrative so that students from different communities and cultures can see themselves within their own education.

I love learning, so I try to use my time to research and try new experiences to gain new knowledge, passions, and perspectives. A new interest includes learning about the love and growth in community gardens as a nontraditional space of learning. another is trying to create new forms of accessible books and magazines to engage and uplift students of all backgrounds.

Additionally, I have experience in grant writing. I use my writing skills to gain support and funds for individuals and organizations who may not have the platforms or skills to do so themselves. A critical skill I have strengthened through this experience is my listening skills. Listening to communities tell their stories and needs is crucial, not only to write and apply for grants but to ensure that their voices do not continue to be institutionally silenced by our society.

In my free time, I enjoy admiring sunsets with my loved ones, reading novels, eating fruit, and soaking in the sun outside. My favorite books include A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and When They Call You a Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir by Patrisse Khan-Cullors and Asha Bandele.
